A tent, RV, or cabin at a campground? Vacation 2026

Are you planning a camping vacation and nejste sure what to choose? A tent, a RV, or a cabin—each option suits different people and different situations. The price difference can be significant: a week in a cabin can easily cost as much as a two-week vacation in a tent or RV. Let’s take a closer look at each option.

Pros and Cons of Camping in a Cabin, Tent, and RV

These days, everyone has a slightly different idea of what camping is. For some people, the word “camping” brings to mind a canvas tent on the grass, with morning dew and the aroma of coffee from a gas stove. Others think of a modern RV with its own kitchen, bathroom, and air conditioning. And then there are those who seek a solid roof over their heads in the form of a cabin or a mobile home, while still wanting to be surrounded by nature.

Each of these options makes sense, but for different people and different situations. Let’s take a look at each one.

A tent at a campground: the most authentic and cheapest way

A tent is the essence of camping in the truest sense of the word. You get up, unzip the tent, and you’re outside. No apartment key, no waiting for the elevator. Just you, nature, and whatever you’ve brought with you.

The price for a tent site at a high-quality campground ranges from 300 to 500 Kč per night. For a week-long stay for a family of four, you’ll pay between 1,400 and 3,500 Kč for the site. Add your own tent (a one-time investment—a tent will last for years) and gear, and your vacation will be significantly cheaper than any other form of lodging.

The advantages of camping are obvious: freedom, low cost, and the ability to arrive at the last minute without being left without a place to stay. The disadvantages are just as obvious: you’re at the mercy of the weather. In the summer, a tent can be uncomfortable in the heat, and when it rains, you have to know how to cope. But anyone who’s managed to camp with kids at least once knows that those are the memories that stick with you the most.

  • Price per plot: 300 to 500 Kč per night
  • Ideal for: families with children, couples, adventurers
  • Main advantages: freedom, low cost, authenticity
  • Main drawback: dependence on the weather, limited privacy

A RV at a campground: comfort without compromise

For many families, a camper is the perfect compromise. You bring your own home on wheelsyour own bed, your own kitchen. In the evening, you pull down the blinds and know exactly what you’re sleeping on and how clean it is. Rain won’t bother you at all.

The price for a RV site at a campground ranges from 650 to 950 Kč per night, depending on the location and the campground’s amenities (electricity, water hookups). While a camper itself is an investment in the hundreds of thousands of crowns, those who own one usually don’t give it up. They take it out every year, recoup their investment, and spend every vacation in a setting they know and love.

A major advantage of a camper over a cabin is mobility. You’re nejste tied to one place. You arrive at Lipno, move somewhere else a week later, and don’t have to repack your bags at all, because you have everything with you. A cabin can never offer that.

  • Parking fee: 650 to 950 CZK per night
  • Ideal for: families who go camping regularly
  • Main advantages: the comfort of your own space, mobility, and independence from the weather
  • Main disadvantage: the purchase price of the RV, the need for a tow vehicle

A cabin at the campground: comfort that comes at an extra cost

At first glance, a cabin or mobile home at a campground seems like the perfect compromise: a solid roof, a bed, sometimes even a bathroom—and yet you’re out in nature. In practice, however, things tend to be a little different.

The price for a cabin at a campground ranges from 1,500 to 3,500 Kč per night, and even higher for premium mobile homes. So for a week, you’ll pay 10,000 to 25,000 Kč—and that’s just for lodging. For the same amount of money, you could take a two-week vacation in a tent or RV and still have money left over for day trips and restaurants. At first glance, a cabin or mobile home at a campground seems like the ideal compromise: a solid roof, a bed, sometimes even a bathroom—and you’re still out in nature. In practice, however, things tend to be a little different.

Anejsteher catch is availability. Cabins and mobile homes at popular campgrounds—especially during the summer season—are usually booked months in advance. If you show up at the last minute, you simply won’t find a cabin. A site for a tent or RV, on the other hand, is more readily available and offers greater flexibility.

Who is this for?

A tent is the ideal choice for families who want to experience real camping and don’t mind being closer to nature in all its forms. Kids love sleeping in a tent, the morning dew on the grass, and evenings by the campfire. If you’re camping for the first time, try a tent first to see if you’ll get hooked.

A travel trailer is perfect for families who camp regularly and want the security of having their own space, no matter the weather. Once you get used to a travel trailer, you won’t want to go back to a tent or a hotel. It’s a way to vacation that becomes a lifestyle.

A cabin at a campground only makes sense if you’re camping for the first time, don’t want to invest in your own gear, and want to see if camping is right for you. As a regular option for a family, however, a cabin is significantly more expensive and less authentic than the two předchozí options.

Camping Panorama Lipno: campsites for tents and RVs right on the water

Practical Tips: Reservations, Prices, and Hours of Operation

In July and August, reservations are a must at all the popular restaurants, especially at Molo Restaurant, MOLO Bistro, and Blue Lipno.

Make your reservation at least 3 to 5 days in advance; for Molo Restaurant, feel free to book 1 to 2 weeks in advance.

In June and September, restaurants are less crowded, and reservations aren’t always necessary.

Prices and Payment:

Most restaurants accept credit cards, while smaller beachside bistros prefer cash.

You’ll usually pay 20 to 30 percent more for a lake view than you would for a property inland.

Hours of Operation:

Most restaurants are open every day during the high season; during the off-season, some establishments close or shorten their hours.

Before visiting, we recommend checking the current hours of operation on the establishment’s website or on Google Maps.

Molo Restaurant is open only from Thursday through Sunday (check the website before visiting).
